Privacy Policy for BreathMinder
BreathMinder (“BreathMinder,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is operated by Steven Plavetzky Jr. This Privacy Policy explains how BreathMinder handles information when you use the BreathMinder mobile application (the “App”).
1. Overview
BreathMinder is a wellness app designed to help users with guided breathing and related wellness features. BreathMinder is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is intended for general wellness and informational purposes only.
BreathMinder does not require a BreathMinder account and does not operate its own server for storing your personal wellness data. App data is stored on your device and, where described below, may be synchronized through Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services.
2. Information the App Accesses or Stores
Depending on the features you choose to use, BreathMinder may access or store:
- breathing-session settings, session history, statistics, streaks, and challenge results
- BreathScape settings, session history, and related statistics
- app preferences and notification preferences
- custom affirmations, custom breathing styles, and other user-created content
- photos or images you choose to import, use, or save
- journal entries and other wellness notes you choose to create
- HealthKit information that you explicitly authorize the App to read or write
- purchase and subscription entitlement information provided by Apple
- diagnostic information that you explicitly choose to include in a support email
3. Information We Do Not Collect for Our Own Servers
BreathMinder does not currently operate its own backend for storing your personal wellness data. At this time:
- we do not require account creation
- we do not collect your email address through in-app sign-up
- we do not sell your personal information
- we do not serve third-party advertisements
- we do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
- we do not transmit your personal wellness data to our own servers for storage
4. iCloud and CloudKit Sync
BreathMinder uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services to privately synchronize supported app data between devices signed in to the same Apple ID. Synced data may include your app settings, custom breathing styles, session history, statistics, streaks, challenge results, journal content, BreathScape records, and selected background photos.
CloudKit data is stored and processed by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. We do not have access to your Apple ID credentials.
Some content remains local to the device. In particular, finished Bubble Painting image files are stored locally and are not synchronized through CloudKit, although related BreathScape session details and statistics may sync. A painting created on one device may therefore appear as unavailable on another device.
Deleting the App from one device may not delete information already stored in iCloud or synchronized to another device. You can manage iCloud access and stored data through your Apple account and device settings.
5. Photos and Images
BreathMinder requests access to your photo library only when you choose a feature that needs it.
- Background photos: You may select a photo to use as a session background. Selected background photos may be stored with your app settings and synchronized through CloudKit.
- Bubble Reveal: If you choose “My Photos,” BreathMinder may read a randomly selected image from the camera roll or album you choose for use during the session. The selected reveal image is used for the active session and is not added to CloudKit as a BreathMinder record.
- Saving images: BreathMinder requests permission to add an image to your photo library only when you choose to save a finished Bubble Painting or revealed photo.
BreathMinder does not upload your photo-library images to our own servers.
6. Online Photos Provided by Pexels
When you choose an Online image for Bubble Reveal, BreathMinder contacts the Pexels API to search for and download an image matching the selected category. BreathMinder sends the selected search category and standard information required to make an internet request.
Pexels and its content-delivery providers may receive information normally included with network requests, such as your IP address, device or browser information, and request details. Their handling of information is governed by the Pexels Privacy Policy.
BreathMinder does not send your breathing history, app settings, personal photos, HealthKit information, journal content, or other personal app content to Pexels. Downloaded Online images are used for the active Bubble Reveal session and are not retained as synced image data by BreathMinder unless you explicitly save the revealed photo to your photo library.
7. HealthKit Information
If you choose to connect Apple Health or HealthKit, BreathMinder requests access only to the specific data types needed for features you enable. BreathMinder may:
- read heart-rate samples to show how your heart rate changed during a breathing session
- write completed breathing activities as Mindful Minutes
HealthKit information is used solely to provide health and wellness features you request. We do not use HealthKit information for advertising, marketing, data mining, or unrelated profiling, and we do not sell HealthKit information.
Personal health information read from HealthKit is not stored in iCloud. You can manage HealthKit permissions at any time in the Apple Health app or your device settings.
8. How Information Is Used
BreathMinder uses information stored in or made available to the App to:
- provide and operate app features
- save and synchronize supported breathing preferences and customizations
- display session history, statistics, and progress
- provide BreathScape experiences and save related history
- support optional journaling and personalization features
- support optional HealthKit-related features you authorize
- schedule notifications you request
- process subscription access through Apple’s in-app purchase system
- respond if you choose to contact us for support or feedback
9. Payments and Subscriptions
All purchases and subscription transactions in BreathMinder are handled by Apple through Apple’s in-app purchase system. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information.
BreathMinder receives entitlement information from Apple so the App can determine whether Premium features should be available. Your purchases are subject to Apple’s terms, billing practices, and privacy practices.
10. Notifications
If you grant notification permission, BreathMinder may schedule reminders you request, such as daily breathing or streak reminders. Notification preferences are stored on your device. You can manage notification permissions at any time in your device settings.
11. User Content
You may choose to create or import content within the App, including custom affirmations, custom styles, journal content, photos, and BreathScape artwork.
You are responsible for the content you create, upload, import, or store in the App, and for ensuring you have the necessary rights to use that content.
12. Diagnostics and Support
BreathMinder does not currently use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
If you choose “Send Feedback,” the App can prepare diagnostic information about the App, device, settings, session state, purchase status, and feature-permission status. BreathMinder displays a notice before copying this information to your clipboard and opening your email app. The diagnostic information is not sent to us unless you choose to paste it into an email and send it.
If you contact us for support or feedback, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message, diagnostics, screenshots, or attachments. We use that information only to respond and improve the App.
13. Data Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell your personal information or share your app data with third parties for their independent advertising purposes.
Information may be processed by service providers only as needed to provide features you request, including:
- Apple: iCloud and CloudKit synchronization, HealthKit, notifications, photo-library access, purchases, and other platform services
- Pexels: searching for and downloading Online Bubble Reveal images
- Your email provider: only when you choose to send a support or feedback email
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business transfer, merger, or reorganization.
14. Children’s Privacy
BreathMinder is not directed specifically to children. The App does not require a BreathMinder account or collect personal information to our own servers in the ordinary course of use. Parents or guardians who have questions may contact us using the email below.
15. International Users
BreathMinder may be made available to users in multiple countries. Your use of Apple, Pexels, or email-provider services may involve processing under those providers’ systems and policies applicable to your region.
16. Your Choices and Data Control
You can generally control your information by:
- editing or deleting content stored in the App
- deleting locally stored Bubble Painting image files from within the App or by deleting the App
- managing BreathMinder’s iCloud access and stored data through Apple account and device settings
- managing photo-library permissions in device settings
- managing notification permissions in device settings
- managing HealthKit permissions in Apple Health and device settings
- managing subscription status through your Apple account settings
17. Data Security and Retention
BreathMinder relies on Apple’s platform protections for data stored on your device and in CloudKit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we design the App to limit collection and avoid operating our own personal-data backend.
Information remains stored until you delete it, delete the relevant content, or manage it through the applicable Apple service. Information you voluntarily send by email may be retained as needed to respond to your request and maintain support records.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” above. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
